New shade shelters Nebo opened April 10 2015

After several years endeavour to upgrade the Heavy Vehicle [HV] rest area facilities at Nebo, on July 25th 2014, RAAG advised of successful application to Dept. Transport and Main Roads, Round 2 Community Road Safety Grants program, for “Nebo rest area shade shelter and site promotion”.

To add to this, a decision was made for the funds donated to RAAG by Viva Energy, Caltex and BP at the May 22nd Tanker Driver Safety forum, MECC Mackay to be used for a second divided four table structure on the southern, west bound HV Rest Area.
RAAG very hopeful these structures will trigger other companies to also assist with structures in rest areas lacking facilities.

Recognition plaques have been placed in the structures recognising the assistance from DTMR and the combined fuel industry, with appropriate media coverage made on their completion. See May 2015 RAAG Roundup newsletter for full story and media links

The main advantages of a divided table structure, the users have protection from wind, and rain and have shade available late afternoon and early morning. The privacy gained by dividers, increases the number of users, with cost savings of one roof, one slab.
